WHAT IF I Just Told It Like It Is?

WHAT IF I Just Told It Like It Is?

While standing in the kitchen Tuesday morning, practicing what I call “blank mind” (trying to free my brain of all distractions); it occurred to me that I have been skirting the real reason we exist online! I grabbed my note pad and quickly jotted today’s headline. . . “What If I Just Told It Like It Is?”

What am I “skirting”? What am I struggling to simply say out loud without comment, apologetics or any other means of not saying what I ought to be saying. Ought to have been saying all along.

What is so damn hard about saying AWI is a safe place for CHRISTIAN WOMEN?

PC in A Christian Woman’s World!

Yes, political correctness entered the Christian world. At least it entered mine without a hint of having done so. Or perhaps I just found excuses for attempting to be politically correct instead of spelling out the reason we are active in an online world. And the reason I’ve been doing something online for the past nearly 10 years!

The naked truth is I didn’t want to exclude any woman who might feel she wasn’t wanted because of a lack of faith or a faith vastly different than mine – or yours! I didn’t know how to say “for Christian women” without sounding superior in some way to women who might not wear that label. So I said phrases like “women of faith”; without clarifying which faith I was speaking of!

And of course, there’s always the bottom line. I didn’t want to rob the bottom line of another paying client who might seek what we offer but didn’t know if she could wear our “label”. Again, I used the same excuse of not wanting to cause offense.

In those moments on Tuesday, April 18 mid morning, it occurred to me that while being kindly sensitive to others is a virtue; political correctness is not. At least not for the woman who seeks to let PAPA God make her into the image of His Son!

So into ‘blank mind’ came PAPA’s thoughts that contradicted everything I’ve been trying to say while avoiding saying so.

Tellin’ It Like It Is Just May Be A Godly Virtue!

The house in which we lived for 11 years is for sale. The realtor was recommended by my middle daughter. LaDonna’s granddaughter and mine are friends; so we have that as a common-bond starting point for what will become a great relationship I believe. A few days ago, granddaughter told me that LaDonna likes me. Glad to hear that ringing endorsement, I asked why.

“She says you tell it like it is and she likes that!”, was granddaughter’s reply.

LaDonna is a believer in the same vein as I am. A Christian woman who appears to be comfortable in the growing up-in-the-Lord process the same as me! And what caused her to feel a kinship with me, in addition to the granddaughters connection, is what she perceives as my ‘tellin’ like it is’!.

Imagine that! Being forthrightly honest, instead of beating about the bush with the intent not to ruffle a feather, is what attracted a Christian woman to another Christian woman. Perhaps such an approach to life – online or otherwise, is a Godly virtue believing women ought cultivate?

Perhaps it’s what attracts us to others who believe as we do with but a slight twist to each others theology!

So What Is the Tellin’ Like It Is?

Affiliated Women International (AWI), with it’s online Community and face-to-face groups COFFEE in the NEIGHBORHOOD, is first and foremost designed to serve Christian women in business world wide!

No apology, no ‘yes, but’ and no disclaimer stating that we don’t mean to offend, or by any means exclude those who might not wear such a label. In other words. . . if you can abide us; we can and will abide you.

But know that you’ll get a fresh dose of Christian spirituality on a regular basis for no other reason than that’s simply who we are! And because we’re called to inspire, educate, inform, motivate and otherwise enrich and empower women who seek to grow in their faith as well as in their business.

in fact, for Christian women, growing in spiritual maturity is the rubber that meets the road on their way to success. But that’s a post for another day!

Refreshing I might add. Refreshing to no longer feel a need to say more than that!

Having Told It Like It Is, What’s Next?

What comes next is saying why we are who we are. And why we seek to serve in the manner we do. It’s a crowded online world and getting our message to women who will find it attractive – just what they have been looking for will take time and patience. It will also take faith and perseverance.

But they say that an overnight sensation usually takes 10 years. And it will be 10 years this coming July since I opened a laptop and began to write.

So hopefully, those years have not been wasted – nor have come to naught. I suspect they have been training for the great days ahead as we seek to fulfill that for which we’ve been called to tell it like it is!

In closing this week’s “WHAT IF” post, I’ll simply say STAY TUNED. . .
