It’s Friday…the day after Christmas! I’m thrilled to report that we had a wonderful time with family and friends these past few days and I trust that you and your family did as well. It’s such a wonderful TIME of the year to celebrate! And it always amazes me how I always seem to find a way to stretch my schedule to meet the demands of the extra activities associated with holiday happenings.
That’s one of the things that actually precipitated the new blog series, entitled “It’s About Time”. If you didn’t happen to catch my blog post last Friday, let me catch you up a bit so you can what else gave me the inspiration for the series. My friend and fellow health advocate, Jenny Parkes, posted something on my timeline on Facebook that totally resonated with me that I made the decision to move forward with this topic. The image she used with her post showed a clock and on every hour the clock read “NOW”!
What Jenny shared bears repeating (especially if you didn’t get to read it last week):
“You can look at this two ways: (referring to the NOW clock)
- It can reflect the demands of your life, causing angst and anxiety as you perpetuate the future outcomes about all you have to do and how will you ever get it all done.
2. It can reflect the power to be found in knowing that now is the only real time there is, and it is the only real time to enjoy, love, create, live, and just be, with no attachment to the outcomes because you’re not in control anyway, even when you’re controlling.
It’s a choice. I choose #2.”
As I shared last Friday, “Just for the record, I’ve chosen #2 as well!”
I suggest you take some quality time this weekend and into early next week to reflect on these two choices…especially as we close out 2014 and head into a brand new year. I believe that the decision you make could make ALL the difference in the direction your life takes, both personally and professionally, in 2015.
If you choose #1, and look at “NOW!” from a more negative point of view, trying to figure out how in the world you can ever accomplish it all…I have news…and it’s not good…you probably never will!
I believe it was Henry Ford who said, “If you think you can or you can’t, you’re right”!
By focusing on the positive “NOW!”, and coming to the realization that we have been given the GIFT of TIME…and new opportunity to wake up, live life to the fullest, make a difference, and go to sleep at night knowing that we’ve done our best…and if we didn’t get it all done…tomorrow is a new day!
I’m so very excited about this topic…and it truly IS my time to share it.
