Becoming a Woman of B.O.L.D. Confidence…Slaying Giants!

It’s such a joy coming to you each Friday here at NEIGHBORHOOD BOUTIQUES, especially since I’ve begun this series on creating a life of B.O.L.D. Confidence.Be bold & confident

Last week, since it was the day just before our country’s 239th birthday, I veered from the topic briefly in order to celebrate Independence Day and the importance that special day brings…and I trust it was a memorable one for you and yours.

It’s now been two weeks since the last series blog, so I’d like to have a brief “refresher”.  That post reflected on a few key confidence-boosting tips including:

Eliminating negative self-talk

Surrounding yourself with those who will lift you up, not tear you down

Facing your fears and stepping out your comfort zone

Majoring on the minors (keeping a journal on accomplishments, no matter how small)

Those are all very important ways to build your self-confidence…and it DOES take lots of practice…on a regular daily basis in order to have the type of B.O.L.D. Confidence that will absolutely take you to the next level of success in both your personal and professional life.

Remember what B.O.L.D. stands for… Binding Old Lies Daily!

Eleanor Roosevelt quoteWhy do I keep hammering this home?  To raise your awareness on misbeliefs or misconceptions you quite possibly have held for some time about yourself…and may very well be holding you back from accomplishing all you have been called to be…and do!

With that in mind, let’s go back to one of those tips above, taking a closer look at how you banish FEAR by facing it head on.

Let me begin with a personal example.  How many of you, like me, have a fear of heights?  I can’t remember a time in my life that I haven’t struggled with that one.  Back in the fall of 1992 we took a family vacation to Disney World.  Since our two older children were already away from home, our 14 year old daughter and 10 year old son were looking forward to riding the scariest indoor roller coaster created by man!   Sad to say, I had my very first… (and happy to say) my last…full-blown panic attack!

After that incident, I knew I had an issue to deal with…and I did!  From Florida, we headed to the Bahamas on a cruise ship.  When we arrived at Paradise Island and we had the opportunity to experience parasailing I knew it was time for me to face my fear of heights and go for it.  I have to tell you that it was one of the most exhilarating experiences of my life!   Would I do it again?  Absolutely…in a heartbeat!

My next goal… Hot air ballooning… and who knows, maybe even jumping out of a “perfectly good airplane”…but it would have to be a “tandem” jump!

With that said, my question to you would be, “What do you fear when it comes to your business?”  I want you to think long and hard about that.

And while you do, remember the story you heard back in Sunday School of David and Goliath?  slayingyourgiant1David was the youngest of Jesse’s sons…what some called the “runt of the litter”…the least of the ones who anyone would have suspected to go up against that giant Philistine, Goliath.  What gave young David the courage to face that giant?

He “remembered”!   He went back in his life experiences when had first killed the bear…and then killed the lion!   Those events built up his confidence to the point that he was willing to risk it all to annihilate Goliath.

We all have “giants” in our lives… insecurities, doubts about our abilities, being overwhelmed with responsibilities, feelings of inadequacy…and the list could go on and on.

What we focus on typically becomes our reality.  I encourage you to step up to YOUR Goliath and take your slipshot with that smooth, small stone and hurl it, full force, square in the forehead of that giant in your life and kill it once and for all!

The enemy is defeated..victory is yours!!!!

Confidently,

Jana
